Subj: [kl] Bundy Intonation Problems

Hi, All -
Looking for a little collective wisdom here... I have a student who is
playing on a plastic Bundy (finances do not allow for replacing the horn at
this time). She's on the mouthpiece that came with it (yes, I know, that's
gotta go!), and currently using Rico Royal 2 1/2 or 3 reeds. Her basic sound
is pretty decent, really, but we're having some tremendous intonation
problems. She is quite flat from bottom line E through throat Bb (except for
throat Ab - that's okay). I've played her horn with my own mouthpiece, and
those notes are still noticeably flat. I've still got the Bundy I started
on, and that one is not at all flat on those notes - if anything, it tends to
be a little sharp. So, the problem seems to be with her particular
instrument. Suggestions?
Thanks!
Susan Schwaegler
