The problem with such a venture is that everything is so interrelated
that there is nothing that is an absolute for every case. For example,
with a certain depth of baffle, opening the facing will cause the
mouthpiece to feel more free. With a different baffle, closing the
facing will free it up. This of course is contingent upon the width of
the chamber, which is affected by the diameter and shape of the bore.
Then, we'll need to come up with either a scientific way to measure tone
quality, or, (shudder!) come to an agreement on descriptive words such
as "dark" and "bright."
