Yes, I'm with you. Manasse is apparently based in New York City, but he
teaches part time at the Eastman School in Rochester, New York. I was
fortunate to attend the only recital he's given in Rochester (as far as I
am aware), and I was amazed, even though I had read marvelous reviews of a
number of his CDs. I hadn't gotten terribly excited by the reviews, since
the reviewers frequently have different interests than mine in works
involving the clarinet.

The program, with the Ying Quartet (the resident string quartet at the
Eastman School since the Cleveland Quartet disbanded) consisted of the
Mozart and Brahms quintets. As an encore they played the finale of the
last movement of the Weber. This was a wonderful evening and I encourage
anyone who has the opportunity to hear Manasse to do so. Don't miss it. I
believe I read that he is in his late 20s - I wonder how great he will be
with a chance to develop!
