there is a space where no light comes through. It's an area a bit more than
1/2". Then, there is light that comes through, rather unevenly, down to
about 1/4" from the bottom end of the mpc, and no light comes through there.
So apparently, there's a concave aspect to the table of this mpc. Did I do
what you suggested, and if so, what does it mean? >>

1. I suggest you repeat the experiment with something more "straight-edged"
like a metal ruler.

2. If you still find a very small concavity (you have to squint to see it)
ignore it

3. If light comes pouring thru.......you might want someone to take a look at
it.

Somes symptoms of a mouthpiece with a warped (or excessively concave) table:

Unexpected squeaking
Embouchure contortions required
Reed feels alive and springy at first then quickly become "fuzzy".

Hope this helps
