The design of the Selmer/Bundy bass clarinets (and soprano and alto ones,
too, for that matter) has not changed substantially in eons, with the
exception of the neck. The new ones have a change of angle, similar to the
Bay necks. Other than that, only the logo has been changed, since Selmer
USA has decided to kill the "Bundy" name. (Nobody remembers who George
Bundy was anymore. He was apparently a good sax/woodwind player, but, more
importantly, founded Selmer USA to import Selmer Paris instruments.)

Incidentally, my bari sax, an old King Zephyr, began its obviously hard
life as a school horn, too.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
