Jim, the biggest problem would be to get accurate measurements, that all
start witth and agree with standard baselines. As has been mentioned here
before, tools such as tip gauges can vary enormously.

As far as other surfaces go, especially the interior ones, remember you are
measuring curved surfaces (sometimes curved in two directions at the same
time). The resulting error in the measurements, unless everyone had
calibrated tools, and measured in the same way, at exactly the same places,
would be enough to invalidate the entire experiment.
