Somehow, I consider the Brahms Quintet as the "Holy Grail" of the A
Clarinet. To me, it needs the darker timbres of the A to play it
effectively. The Mozart can almost get away with it on Bb. About as well as
the Concerto (which again, I would never do myself now, but as a kid........)
