Well, in the end everything went fine. My teacher lent me her
mouthpiece I and got some real (Vandoren) reeds. It only took a little
bit to figure out how to open up, then everything went fine. It was
actually a lot of fun. I believe it also has helped with my Bb
playing. When I go back to soprano after bass I have to tighten up.
Usually I have problems with being TOO tight on soprano. Maybe playing
a couple notes on bass would be a good warm-up. It gets the air moving,
too. :)
