OK. It is the 15th of January and everyone is, hopefully,
back from wherever they went.

To remind you, I said that I would build a FAQ on mouth-
pieces based not on my own knowledge, which is almost
non-existent on this subject, but on the input from people
of this list.

So now I ask you to begin to send me what it is you have
in mind. I'll take anything but I won't use anything in
the FAQ. It needs to be substantive and represent some
serious thought on the matter.

A statement that "the xxx mouthpiece with facing zzz is
the best to use" will be consigned to the ash heap of
history. Personal opinions, while not useless, have a
tendency to reflect the prejudices of the person giving
the opinion.

Think of it in the abstract: a young person writes in and
says, "I need to know something about mouthpieces. Where
do I start? What should I read? How do I know if a
mouthpiece is a good one?" What would you say in response
to that question.

Send me anything you wish and I will try to build a FAQ
based on what I get. I might not be able to do that and
if I can't I'll resign the task and someone else can take
over, get my files on the subject, and try themselves.

It will be an interesting experiment no matter how it
goes. Either the people of this list can and do provide
useful information on this very complex subject, or else
they can't, either because it is not there to do or because,
like most human endeavors, everyone wants to reap the
benefits of the work while doing as little of it as
humanly possible.

I want a unique subject heading for this so that I can
always retrieve the material with a consistent
search algorithm. The subject that must be used if I
am to retrieve it in the future is "Mouthpiece FAQ."

I await breathlessly!
