If bass clarinet reeds are not available in variety of strengths, tenor
sax reeds are ok. In fact, some people prefer t.sax reeds with some
mouthpieces.

To help you quickly get mouthpiece placement reliable, you can mark where
top teeth align on top of mouthpiece. Use water-proof bandage tape --
will stay in place for a few days yet easy to remove. (Get rid of
stickyness with mild dishsoap and cool wter.)
When you find a good placement/angle, put a piece of the tape just beyond
where your teeth should be. YOu can feel for the 'bump'.

Breathe and breathe support to the max.
Focus on pitch accuracy and ensemble AND don't sweat the tone color.

Sat.NightWaltz can be a very enjoyable piece. i haven't played bclar,
but enjoy the Bb clarinet parts--quarters and half notes accomp with oboe
melody seem simple but are very effective.

good work and good luck,
annhall
