I have to learn how to play bass clarinet by this Saturday!

I am going to a County Orchestra festival this Saturday to play Bb
clarinet. Just Wednesday night the festival host director called my and
asked, no, told me I was playing bass. He sent a bass home with my mom
that I could play. I will still Bb as normal, but will play bass in a
different, smaller orchestra.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?
I have decided there is no way I can get out of it, because the part is
so easy (Saturday Night Waltz from Copland's Rodeo). He said he has the
part doubled by t.saxes and bassoon, but want a bass cl. to fill it out.

I HAVE NEVER PLAYED BASS CLARINET IN MY LIFE!
He lent me a cheap Vito (stock mpc.) with two Rico 2.5s. The reeds will
be the first to go. I have never touched a bass, so I really don't know
what to do. First of all: What kind of reed should I use?

My normal Bb setup is:
R13 with Vandoren M13 mpc
Gigliotti lig w/ V12 3.5 reed.

Secondly, how do you get a big sound out of it. When I played it I
either squeaked or sounded like a fog horn. I realize that it takes a
lot of air, but when I go down the scale (from G) it just sounds
stuffy. Is this cause I don't know what I'm doing or the horn?

Hopefully my teacher will lend me some advice/equipment tonight at
lessons.

THANKS!!!!
