I posted this rather hastily. I should have made it clearer what notes
I was talking about here. We naturally had also to change the melodic
notes that introduce and then join the chords in order to have the new
chords make sense, and it was *this* change that was the point of
disagreement, not the changing of the notes of the chords themselves.
(Obviously, the whole *point* had been to change those.)

And in fact, I now realise that I've misremembered the incident, putting
two separate occasions together in my mind, and what I wrote isn't quite
as it happened. (See tagline:-(

So I'll go and see Berio when he's in London in early February, and
report back to you then on his present attitude to that passage, which
in fact a lot of people ask about.
