A little more on this question:
I just observed in another note that Boosey & Hawkes still lists "Mannin
Veen" by Haydn Wood as being in print for Band. The J.W. Pepper web site
(http://www.jwpepper.com, another excellent resource that will often tell
you whether a title is in or out of print) also shows "Mannin Veen" as in
print, lists Boosey & Hawkes as the publisher, and shows the same retail
price of $80 for score and parts.
The JWPepper site also lists these items:
> MANX OVERTURE ( WOOD/arr_BROWN )
> Band CONC BAND ....Grade-6
> Boosey & Hawkes Inc. -- P.O.P. (Permanently Out of Print)
> MANX RHAPSODY ( WOOD/arr_GODFREY )
> Band CONC BAND ....Grade-5
> Chappell Music Company -- P.O.P.
About "Mannin Veen," the site says the following:
> MANNIN VEEN ( WOOD )
> Band CONC BAND ....Grade-5
> Boosey & Hawkes Inc.
> Haydn Wood. Originally published in 1933, this
> outstanding tone poem, based on four folk songs
> from the Isle of Man, is an outstanding addition
> to any band library. Beginning with a plaintive
> melody in the Dorian mode, then going into a
> "fiddle tune," a very lyrical melody and then a
> hymn, this is a superbly written work that is
> most worthy of performance.
Hope this additional information is useful ....
