Yes, it is a traditional style of music. It is strictly defined as
<The party music (i.e. weddings, etc.) of the Ashkenazim, or Eastern
European Jews - who spoke Yiddish (a derivative of middle-high German) >.
More loosely (but annoyingly, to a purist like me) the term is used for
Jewish folk music from Eastern Europe and it's various offshoots and
progeny in our modern age. The word is pronounced KLEZ'-murr. The 'Z' is
pronounced like we would say it, not in the German way.
