I know that blanks are more convenient (take less time), but about 5
years ago I started hand making blanks from tubes. I'd kick myself for
taking so long to discover this, but at my age, I'm not that flexible any
more!! Seriously, the hand made blanks are far superior to any
"commercial" blanks for me. And I've tried Bil Jackson's blank making
tools, but good ol' hand sanded and shaped blanks work better than the
shortcut version. I made about 6 tubes into blanks with Bil's tools, and
didn't like them as much. Not scientific, I know, but that was my
experience.
