I've been playing one of these, and like them a good bit. Maybe the airy
tone in the throat tones is from reeds that don't match the mouthpiece
optimally? I think he recommends a V12 3.5 or 4, and a Bonade or Eddie
Daniels ligature. For me a hand made 4 or 4.5 with the inverted Bonade
works well, YMMV.
