Interesting. Do you think that it might also have had something to do with
the age of the pad and the resultant HARDNESS of the surface of the pad?

In working with mouthpieces, I have also found that narrowing the side rails
very close to the tip helps alleviate fuzziness.

Also, what about yor tone enhancers? Don't they also help with this problem?
