Be cautious with any spreadsheets that have date calculations, accounting
programs (!), or word processing document templates that automatically fill
in the date.

There's a number of other types of programs that access the date via
"normal" means and "abnormal" means. On my pre-1997 Compaq Presario (now the
wife & kid's computer) with non-updateable BIOS, Compaq provided a device
driver to fix problems with programs that access the date "normally", but
for those programs bypassing the "normal" way there is a very good chance
that the date will be wrong.
