I own an E-11 also, and had the same problems you mention here, along
w/ notes in the upper clarion register going horribly sharp. I would
suggest trying out several different barrels. It turns out that the stock
barrel that came w/ mine was about 64mm. I got a 66mm barrel, and most of
my turning problems have gone away. That might not fix the flax altissimo
notes, though...
