Expending energy with a beat

I heard this on the radio today:
In the USA a group of experts found that chewing unsweetened ( why
unsweetened they did not say ) gum, steadily over a period of a
year, can cause you to lose 22 pounds over a period of the year.

They made an experiment with volunteers, all chewing this gum. Everyone
was wired up to find what the output of energy was.
To make sure the action was controlled, they used a METRONOME to get a
steady chewing action.

So the metronome was good for something.

I wonder if someone would undertake to measure the energy of practicing
clarinet to the beat of a metronome.

A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.
