He and Mitchell Lurie are far and away the best teachers I have ever worked
with. The studio at USC is positively scary. There are so many incredible
players there. I could go on and on with his success as a teacher through
competitions, festivals and orchestral jobs, but I'll mention just two.
You'd be familiar with: Burt Hara and Richy Hawley. Yes, both went to
Curtis, but if you heard tapes of them in high school, you would know who
taught them most of what they learned.
