Yes, the Heckelphone is fingered slightly differently from an oboe, but it is
still considered in the oboe family and so noted in Strauss' listing in the
Elektra score. When I was involved in a Chicago Symphony performance of
Elektra, the Heckelphone was played by Bob Mayer who was the orchestra's Eng.
Horn player. The point is, it does not belong at the bottom of the bassoon
listing in score order as Mark C. was suggesting.
