#1: Benny Goodman. The truth is what sells. He may be the only
clarinet player that most people recognize. Artie Shaw ranks #2 among
folks over 50. David Murray (I can't listen to him without feeling
that I have wasted my life.) Did Captain Beafheart play some
clarinet? If so, he would be on my list, too.
