David--

I have played on a matched set of RC Prestige since June 1985. They are
quite different than R-13s and the like. First, RC Prestige instruments are
thicker-walled, and heavier in total weight. While the weight may be
considered a negative--especially for the right thumb--the overall sound IMHO
is much darker and warmer. Second, there is more fundamenatal pitch and
fewer overtones with RC Prestige instruments, again IMHO. In short, I prefer
the RC Prestige instruments to the R-13s--especially the R-13 Prestige
instruments which were marketed after the RC Prestige (the RC Prestige is the
orginal Prestige, and was marketed beginning in approximately 1983 + or - a
year or so).

I have not had the opportunity to play on Vintage or Festival instruments.
However, I would like to compare the RC Prestige to the Leblanc Opus at some
future date when I am looking into a new set of instruments.
