But, we should recognize that this has a downside as well. If a synthetic
reed will last a very long time, and is not susceptible to the same kind
of changes as a cane reed from atmospheric conditions, then the embouchure
will become "set" for that particular reed and its response
characteristics. Then, every other reed will seem wrong to the student.
That's one of the advantages of having several reeds and alternating them.
