i enjoyed a PBS broadcast several years ago with Andre Previn piano
solist, and was struck by the Bebop flavor he brought to the music.
Of course, not every competent pianist is an experienced jazz improviser,
but nice work when someone gets it!

i've also heard people who don't have improve chops give a convincing
stylistic performance of the written notes.
