Nope, the Mom called me up and told me (didn't even talk to son). She was
there - no distortion. I spoke to the repair guy yesterday, and got his
side of it. He told me that those cork pads cost a lot more then regular
pads - about $2-3 per pad. I just kept my mouth shut, thinking that a $3
pad is nothing, but he would probably charge $40 to put it in. I clued him
in on the Legere's, and he had never heard of them. He carries the Bari
synthetic, and figured that they were about the same (buzzy). He knows
better now. It was a friendly conversation, I didn't ream him out, as it is
not my style. I vented on Klarinet list :) IF I send anyone back to him, at
least I can warn them in advance, and explain my thoughts beforehand. I
hope I don't get that desperate for a repair........
