Richard,

I have never pinned a clarinet before. I have always used flushbands so I
consider myself pretty ignorant on the subject of pinning. It struck me
that super-drying a joint prior to pinning would stress the area of pinning
more when the instrument was used again and, perhaps, cause another crack.

Could you please explain your thinking further?
