If you can replace your own tenon corks, you are MILES ahead of most people
in regard to instrument repair! I rehook springs at the store counter
frequently, so the instruments never even have to go up to the repair shop.
Overzealous flute polishers are notorious for knocking springs off. But
even if you are not competent to REPAIR an instrument, you should still be
familiar enough with its workings to recognize what is wrong.
