Thanks for the message.
This clarinet definitely says "made in England" just above the serial number
on the lower joint.
? maybe added by a dodgy dealer or distributor.
On the night I was given it, I tried it out with my own mouthpiece and it
seemed at least as loud (or to have a lot of carrying power) compared to my
usual preferred clarinet ( a wide-bore Hammerschmidt hybrid-Boehm system,
same mpc). The venue was a large hall with a lot of reverb. -only half full
of audience and no acoustic buffering.
A few days later I repeated the try-out and the Besson instrument seemed to
be neither as loud nor to have as much projection. This was at an outdoor
function held in a park - acoustically dead. Presumably the differences are
due to different harmonics produced by the two instruments. I don't think
they're a figment of my imagination because other musicians present gained
essentially the same impression.
Any more informatin would be appreciated.
Tim.
