the High School level and it would be great to hear from all of the
wonderful
people on this list. The length of the music must be less than 5 min. and
must have the proper accompaniment. I have about 3 more months to prepar for
this, along with the Weber concerto, one movement from Brahms sonatas, and
another one from Hindemith or Schrumann. The "free-choice" will be the 4th
song I will play and I want to make it sound challenging and entertaining to
the audience and of course the judge. If you have any suggestions please
help! Thanks a lot before hand!

Dear Mr Takumi

There are very many possibilities for you, even in my modest library you can
find some 80 centimeters of literature for clarinet alone, original works
for clarinet and piano, and works for clarinet and piano reduction.
Nonetheless maybe it is a good thought, to buy a cd with klezmer music, and
a book with the notes, for instance Giora Feidman published both the cd
"Dance of joy" and the notes of it. Of course he plays with his trio, but
you can let that out. It may be something new to the jury (I played some
klezmer in a very local contest, and the jury, a trio of professional
musicians never understood my playing until some days afterwards, as they
never had heard any music of the kind before), so it may be necessary to
give them some explanation, before you start to play.

Good Luck. Do enjoy the season, and make the new year a good year, even if
participating in competitions doesn't bring what you hoped for: there's more
to life, than reed adjustment, embouchure, and how to interpret thet
particular two notes in PDQ Bach (1735? - 1815?)'s third concert for bicycle
bell, harpsichord and gamelan.

Rien (note the correct spelling)
