That is one reason why I would suggest taking piano... I had NO theory
whatsoever in band classes- in TX, we have to write "WIN" (I have no idea
what that stands for....) writing assignments... in band we did little
one-page discussions on old composers. That's it. But in Piano, we are
required to take theory. The circle of fifths is the thing used to tell how
many sharps or flats are in a certain key, etc.. One starts with C, and
moves up or down perfect fifths from there- i.e. C-G-D-A-E-B-F#-C#... in
that direction adding one sharp; C-F-Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Cb... each time adding
one flat. Minor keys start with "a" and arent capitalized.
