ANY lesson text you use will probably have the same problem. I've used
Yamaha, Standard of Excellence, Ed Sueta, Learn To Play (which isn't a
"band" - i.e. heterogeneous method) and a couple of different Alfred method
books. They all have the same _kind_ of music in them (the kind that you
don't need to pay royalties or ASCAP fees for). The differences have more to
do with how techniques and notation concepts are sequenced and how easy the
steps are from easy to difficult. You can always skip steps for quick
kids/classes - it becomes a major hassle when you have to fill in smaller
steps for the average kids because the book jumps too quickly (most books
do). I've never worked with a method book (winds or strings) that I really
liked, and as a result I'm constantly writing or finding supplementary
material.
