I'm glad someone is responding who has specific knowledge about the music
programs at the schools I listed. With the exception of Virginia
Commonwealth University (to which I applied at one time), I know little
specific information as I'm from California, and still on the West coast.

Well, I (having an incredibly biased opinion) would HAVE to recommend the
University of Georgia. They have a really new music building and performing
arts center and people like ASO, Academy of Sat. Martins, and others are
always playing there. The clarinet studio is INCREDIBLE, too.
