Actually the word clarinet is derived from a term that translates as "little
clarion" and the clarion was a brass instrument (or horn). The clarinet was
so named because in the clarion register, also named for the clarion, it
reminded people of the sound of the clarion. Thus everytime you use the
word clarinet, you are calling it a horn also.
