Seems like Mssrs. Hite, Fobes, Grabner, Garrett and Smith would know as well
as anyone how their facings compare to standard mass-production models. When
you ask to try one of their mouthpieces, tell them what commercial facing
you've been using.

By the way, we keep coming back to talking about VanDoren mouthpieces as
though they are somehow worthless or nearly so. B45 is not my favorite VD
facing, but I've played on a number of VanDoren mouthpieces that were
capable of excellent results. Especially with a small amount of tweaking in
the facing measurements.
