Ok, Walter's response pulled me out of lurk mode:

>For the price you pay for a Vandoren B45, you can get a quality mouthpiece.
>Contact Hite, Fobes or Garrett. Garrett has a "D" model. It will be cheaper
>and infinitely better than a B45. Contact Roger Garrett at
>rgarrett@-----.

I've been using a B45 and B45-13 (the M13 version, pitch is a bit
better) on my Leblanc Infinite's. I'd like to try one of the custom
mouthpieces, but I have no idea how the Hite, Fobes, Grabner, Garrett,
Smith models compare to the B45 facing and tip opening.
>From Walter's note, may I infer that Roger's "D" is similar in facing
and tip opening to the B45?

I shudder at the idea of sitting down at the table with these
gentlemen at the ICA exhibition next July, and actually playing, but
that may be what it takes. Until then, can someone (m'piece
suppliers?) advise on how the dimensions of the custom products
compare to the (dare I write) industry standards?

Mack Endres
