Yes, Bill, they are as close as were going to get, I think. I play a Yamaha
tenor pro model bought new about 18 months ago. It took a while to tweak up
and all that but I can bop the low tones with confidence and get around the
top with satisfactory intonation. The other tenor guy in a big band I play
in has a Selmer Paris model which he selected at the factory (in Paris) and he fussed
over it a bit too getting exactly what he wanted. He blows a Link 5* and I
use a VD T45 Java. The sax section; bari, two tenors, two altos play nearly
new pro horns and when the boss drops his hand for the downbeat,there is
nothing in the world quite like the precision attack of 5 saxes a' tempo.
We're all old geezers from the big band days but we can swing.
