Don, While I agree with you about the hearing aid industry as a whole, there is an
excellent alternative. Faced with serious unilateral hearing loss, I consulted with
a professional American Academy of Audiology certified audiologist recommended by my
family physician. My medical insurance covered the several hours of testing and
adjusting necessary to fit me with a quality hearing aid, as opposed to those
off-the-shelf rip-offs sold by hearing aid stores. On a number of visits after I
received the hearing aid, the audiologist continued to adjust and fine tune the
hearing aid to get the best possible response for my particular hearing loss
situation. It's really a better way to go. I believe you would be happy with the
