Subj: [kl] Should I buy a new mouthpiece?
Date: Mon, 13 Dec 1999 01:24:36 -0500

I'm an adult beginner -- been playing for about 6 months. I have a Buffet
plastic student model (B12, I think), which I find much harder to play
than the rented Yamaha I had for the first month or so. The sound is thin
and the effort excessive. I use a 2.5 Vandoren reed.

My teacher thinks it's the mouthpiece and has suggested I buy a new one
(although some days she thinks it's just my technique).

Does anyone have any advice? Is this a common problem, and what kind of
mouthpiece would you recommend?

Many thanks
Rhana
