Well, that's not really fair that your school won't let you do jazz band.
I am a part of the jazz ensemble at my school. The teacher just has me
play trumpet parts. It works out pretty well, but then again our group is
so small that sometimes I'm the only one playing any trumpet parts (which
is the melody a lot of the time!).
