Count me as one. Although I did not start playing sax until well after
leaving school, I picked it up so I could play big band music. Now I'm
about 50-50 clarinet (sometimes bass clarinet) and alto sax, although I
have in the past played more tenor, and occasionally have done shows, etc.,
on bari and even soprano (on one of those "recreational" Winstons like
you!). I'm currently playing 1st clarinet for a local production of "Sound
of Music," but earlier in the week had to skip a rehearsal to play first
alto in a community band concert! And next week I have a lead
alto/clarinet big band gig. I love it!

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
