Dear Anne,

well, my experience is that the problems are much less in concerts. We
have only a small room for rehearsal and the accoustics are not good. So
besides the intensity most of the hearing problem comes from that. We are
only about 20 people (how big is your orchestra/band?) and I never had
ringing ears after rehearsal. It is just that the sound is something
'thick' and it is much better if everyone plays more quietly (which the
trumpets can do, too -- if they want).

But you remind me of doing a hearing-test (right word?). The last has been
about five years ago.

Anyway, I think ear-plugs (good ones) could be of use in my situation,
too. Perhaps I should by some for our conductor for christmas, so he can
try them out :-)

Greetings,
Christian
