Yes indeed, Chapter Ten of Dr Bonade's book
"Horns, Strings and Harmony": Anchor Books,
Doubleday and Co. N.Y. (1960)
is entitled "Homemade Wind Instruments"
After the trumpet, he discusses simpified woodwind,
basic metal keywork which he calls machinery,
the cutting of countersunk pad holes,
the positions and sizes of holes and
the Boehm flute and clarinet.

Plate VIII, opposite page 201, shows such a clarinet
made by Gregory Levin and exhibited and demonstrated
at the Northeastern Ohio Science Fair in 1959
