Programs I'm writing because I'm interested in going to a music camp or
festival this summer and I was wondering if there are any you could
recommend. If there are any that you guys know of that are not 6 or 8 week
programs, that would be preferred; I'm looking for something more along the
lines of a 1-3 week program. To give you a little background about myself,
I am a music major at the University of Richmond and I've been playing for
9 years. A couple of years ago I went to the FAME Festival in
Lawrenceville, NJ and I liked the way it was organized (the first week we
had master classes with Anthony Gigliotti and the second week was large
performance ensembles). Anything you could recommend would be much

Hi Mindy. I look at your last name, and it's interesting that the year
before you attended, there was a Clarinetist who I taught at FAME named
Jennifer Christensen (a player from Canada who had just finished her
Masters from Northwestern Univ. with Russ Dagon).
I taught at FAME before Gigliotti was available. Any relation?? Go to
Tanglewood, Aspen, for the longer Festivals, but for a great short festival
- try the Forget (sp) Domain in Canada. Great faculty. Another very good
festival is the Nova Scotia Festival. Bob Marcellus founded it. I haven't
personally been to Forget, but have had quite a few students attend, and I
did play the Scotia Festival back in 1988, it was quite good. The year I
played it David Shifrin, Bill Jenken, Kathy Hudgins (Principal BSO's wife),
and Shannon Scott were there.
