Did you ever think of buying a used clarinet? I was so frusterated for
months because i new i needed a proffesional clarinet, but i didn't have the
Money for a new R13. Last week, i went to a music store in New York City
(rod baltimores international woodwinds and brass) and bought a used R13 for
$800. Its in really good condition, its from 1992. The guy there told me
he'd make any adjustments and help me with deciding on a mouthpeice. I think
i got a really good buy.
If you really want a good buy on a new clarinet, i hear Weiners music store
in Mineola, NY has the best prices on buffet clarinets in the world.
To convince my parents to help me buy a proffesional clarinet, i told them
that everyone i'd be competing against would have an automatic advantage over
me because of the sound their instrument produces.
I also told them that I'm going to have to get one eventually, so i might as
well get one now then in 5 years or whatever.
ALSO, tell them that if you keep your instrument in good shape, if for some
reason you stop playing, you can tell your instrument and get most of the
money back.

Also, i have a question. I heard that its good to buy a clarinet thats been
used for a few years because If the wood was going to crack, it would have
already cracked. And also that the instrument is "broken in" and it would be
less delicate. Is this true?

I hope i helped, and thanks
Leigh-Anne
