My husband, 3 children and I just switched from playing German system to
French (Buffet) a year ago. We started by continuing to use our German
mouthpieces with the new French clarinets. This only worked though,
intonation wise, by using a click barrel. The normal barrel was way too
flat, but with the click barrel it works very well. In fact our three
kids made it all the way to the German national music competition for
youth last year and got a second prize (using German mouthpieces on
Buffet clarinets). We use Zinner German mouthpieces and Steuer reeds.
