Karl: As you may know, Blackmasters are made to best perform on the Reform Boehm
system to obtain the "Viennese sound" the reeds are narrower and the German MP
narrower. This may be a factor in why they give out early. Check one against
standard french cut reed for tip width and vamp. If you have access to Ron
Vazquez' book "A Book for the Clarinet Reed-Maker" he discusses this.
