now as they are today - if you can find something to play them on.

The Library of Congress and the International Librarians Assn. doesn't think so ... The record makers have nothing to do with this; the LofC is worried about general data storage. Lost bits on an audio recording will degrade the playback, but generally it will still be listenable. Not so for data storage (which is what they're primarily interested in) - the degradation they're predicting in less than 50 years would cause even the ECC algorithms to hiccup.

As to Minidisk - only time will tell. My opinion, FWIW, has already been posted.
