If you are planning on going to college and continuing the Clarinet than =
you will need a good quality wood Clarinet. Don't just try to convince =
your parents that "Wood" is what you need. Otherwise, they may say that =
any wood clarinet will do, and that is certainly not true. =20

The next thing to consider is improvement on musical skills. A good =
instrument is a must in order to realize your full potential.

If your parents are not knowledgeable about music, they will be harder =
to convince. Have them talk to you teacher about the need for a quality =
instrument.

A plastic instrument is good for two (maybe three) things: 1. Getting =
started. 2. Marching in a parade 3. Turning into a lamp.

The one thing you don't want to say is, "I need one because everybody =
else has one".

Unfortunately, I do not know what level you are at. If you are a =
freshman or less you may want to set you sights a little lower and go =
with something like a Yamaha YCL 34. If you are planning on doing a lot =
of competitions you will need a higher quality instrument like the R-13. =
=20

Good Luck?

P.S. It helps if you keep you room clean and eat all of your =
vegetables.

Subject: [kl] Help with buying a new clarinet!

I'm presently in the market for buying a new clarinet hopefully a R-13 =
or=20
prestige. The large problem that i'm having is that i need some good =
ways to=20
convince my parents why i should go and get a "Wooden" clarinet. The =
only=20
thing i can come up with is the sound, what are some other reasons?=20
